According to new research, more and more people are cutting the cord, or at least turning to alternatives to cable and satellite. At least 20% of the people who bought Roku and similar set-top boxes in 2011 were 45 or older, so this is not just a growing trend among young people. It is also serious news to the cable industry.
While there is no "cut the cord" revolution just yet, people are probably dropping premium channels and downgrading their current packages, supplementing their TV entertainment with streaming TV and movies.
