I have like 10 articles to discuss, but I got lost in SimCity this weekend. Yes, I installed it on this computer as well as the other one for no good reason (just because I could) and started playing a new game in addition to the one I've been playing on for a few years now. I got caught-up in the whole "I'm just going to do this real quick..." thing, whiling away hours from my Saturday without realizing it.
This is precisely why I do not play video games. I don't think people who do are weak or anything like that, but it really is easy to make it into a lifestyle. I went to bed thinking strategy for The Sims and woke up thinking about it. I forced myself to logout of the game only to find myself looking up hints and tips online. I forgot to shower and fell asleep on the couch while watching TV.
It would be completely ridiculous if it weren't the weekend and the first time I've done this in years, but when I first bought the game, it stayed on for at least a good three weeks straight. I played it, my roommates played it, and we just left it running day and night for weeks. That was at least 7-8 years ago, and this is the first time I've gone Sims crazy since then. Still, this is how almost every video gamer I know lived his/her life, and why I don't get into them that much.
