According to a recent report by NPR< the production and sales of vinyl records and LPs is up. Although it remains a niche market, the two largest manufacturers have stepped up production in recent months to meet market demand.
The report suggested that many of the new listeners are actually much younger than would be expected - many who are collecting vinyl today were raised with CDs. Most say the sound is what draws them. Nostalgia does not appear to be fueling the market - at least not nostalgia alone.
