William Melchert-Dinkel plead not guilty to charges alleging he "coached" at least two people into taking their lives by anonymously befriending them under female screennames in chatrooms. Investigators found information on Melchert-Dinkel's computers and ISP records indicating that he had researched hanging, then "helped" two chatroom acquaintances hang themselves to death.
Melchert-Dinkel indicated he will employ a free speech defense and requested a trial by jury.
