My keyboard table had been squealing for weeks every time you moved it. I finally got under there and found that the screw had come loose. I thought I remembered picking it up at some point without knowing what it went to, but I have no idea where it would be now.
I could desperately use a new computer table, but this one has served me well for many years. It has seen better days and needs to be retired, but for as long as I have it, I like to try to keep it in as good of condition as possible. I searched for the screw but did not find it, so I searched for a replacement screw. I replaced the screw and haven't had a problem since. I've even thought to check down there more often and everything's fine.
The point is that a 10¢ screw fixed the computer table I was considering replacing despite the fact that I can't afford it right now. Sometimes, it's worth it to spend a moment troubleshooting before you replace an entire unit, even if it is time to replace it.
