RoughDraft Works on Win 7

As I discussed the other day, many of the older programs I have used for years and was forced to find alternatives to actually work quite well under Windows 7. This includes RoughDraft, the word processor.

Yes, there are great writing programs available for Windows 7 and I use some of them (Open Office being the most prominent), but every writer needs one that is versatile yet simple - pared-down, without all the bells and whistles of a large word-processor. These are the programs on which the real work gets done, without the need for margins, headers, footers, cover pages, and the rest. RoughDraft excels though, as it actually offers those things (to some degree), if you want them.

It's also a fantastic replacement for Windows Notepad, which is how I originally found it. When I first started coding, I needed a Notepad that allowed colored tags and lines, and also handled large files, and RoughDraft was it.

So, if you're looking for a good Notepad replacement that also handles colored text, or a compact and convenient writing program that leaves all the noise behind, check out RoughDraft. Sadly, it is no longer in development, but the final product is fantastic and I swear by it when it comes to writing.
