Group Me is a group texting system that allows you to place Contacts into Lists and send everyone on your list the same message at once. As the site explains, it turns groups of contacts into "private chatrooms" that work on any phone. Skype has decided to purchase the startup for an undisclosed sum.
Skype has been approached by Microsoft and the giants are expected to finalize their $8.5b deal by the end of the year. Skype had no comment as to why it was buying Group Me, especially so close to finalizing the deal with Microsoft.
