Australia to Restrict Internet Tobacco Advertising

Australian lawmakers want to pass legislation to prevent online advertisers from offering "tax-free" and cheap cigarettes. Smoking is Australia's #1 cause of death, and the age band which smokes the most is also the group most active online (20-29).

Australia currently has one of the most restrictive tobacco advertising policies in the world, but they credit it for a 15% decrease in the number of smokers -- down from 35% of the country's population in the 1970s.
