Two 18-year-old Rutger's University freshmen are facing charges which could land them up to five years in jail for directly causing the death of another student, whose sexual activities they clandestinely filmed and broadcast live over the Internet.
When 18-year-old Tyler Clementi learned that a sexual encounter he'd had was surreptitiously recorded and broadcast by his roommate, Dharun Ravi, and accomplice, Molly Wei, he posted on his Facebook profile, "Jumping off the gw bridge sorry."
Police recovered a body from the Hudson River Wednesday afternoon. It was later identified as that of Tyler Clementi's.
At the time of this writing, a Facebook Honorarium in Tyler Clementi's name had attracted over 10,000 people. We hope both children involved in this horrible tragedy are charged with manslaughter, if not 2nd-Degree Homicide, in addition to the petty charges they presently face.
