Bing Cashback Ending July 30

Bing is ending its cashback program at July 30th, 2010 at 9:00pm PST. Users will have one year to redeem the cashback they have collected. Microsoft will continue to offer customer support throughout this time.

Microsoft was hoping to lure more searchers to their new Bing "decision engine" with the cashback program, which rewarded visitors who made purchases with businesses they found on Bing. Unfortunately, nearly two years in, it has not had the effect Microsoft had hoped it would; Bing remains a distant third in the search engine market, despite the fact that Bing is an increasingly effective engine.

But all is not lost - Microsoft says the cashback program taught them a lot about what customers and advertisers alike are looking for in rewards programs, and they plan to bring users better and bigger programs in the future.
