20,000 students in Vitoria da Conquista, Brazil are wearing school uniforms outfitted with a microchip that alerts parents as to when their children arrive on school grounds and when they are more than 20 minutes late. It cost the school $670,000 to create these outfits for the students, and it plans to spend even more money on outfitting the remaining 43,000 public school students with them as well. All of the students in Vitoria da Conquista are expected to wear microchipped uniforms by 2013.
