Botnet Kills Rival

Spy Eye Toolkit not only installs a botnet on your PC, it removes the Zeus botnet if you are already infected! The "Kill Zeus" feature removes the Zeus bot infection from your computer, releasing your usernames and passwords to SpyEye. Experts say the feature was added very recently.

Authorities say the number of these botnets are on the rise, many originating in Russia. Several have appeared recently, but SpyEye is the most aggressive, actively looking to topple its rival while simultaneously establishing its own network. This is not the first time cybercriminals have used this tactic, though.

While experts admit it is not a major threat, its growth is worth watching. SpyEye costs 1/5 the cost of Zeus on the black market, about $500.
