Life Plugged-In

The past few weeks, I largely took a break from the everyday Internet activities to which I've become accustomed. I remained thoroughly dependent on the Web, however, as I spent my time advancing my toons in World of Warcraft and watching programs on my Roku. What struck me as so odd about this is just how many people do it everyday; this is everyday living for a whole lot of people, namely gamers and more casual netizens. These people may only check their social networking accounts a few times a week.

I kept up with the news during this time, and therefore have a slew of posts to bring you from the last few weeks (as always, I'll get to them as I do, or don't), but I stayed away from social networks and usual routines. I did not blog very regularly - which probably wasn't too noticeable because I've been working on other projects more recently than I have in the last several years. I did not even pursue those other projects much these last few weeks.

Instead, I distanced myself from my online life and reinstated myself in an IRL existence. I have to say it was not as fruitful as I'd hoped but it did wonders to re-energize me. It also helped me better evaluate just how important my online life has become as compared to my "real" one and that has me trying new things. In that sense, it was a real success.

I will have some interesting write-ups about new Roku channels, as well as some other nifty things. I want to gripe about dailies in WoW (along with nearly everyone else, I'm sure). I also want to jabberjaw about some other things that have been on my mind lately concerning technology, the Web, streaming entertainment, and more. All in good time, though.

I didn't realize it was a challenge but I basically undertook it. I didn't stay away completely, as I said; I left a comment here and there and checked e-mail once or twice; and so on. I definitely kept up with the news. I mostly watched television and movies, though.
