I Thought iObit Had Hijacked my Auto-Updater

When a pop-up messenger box told me I needed to update my iObit software the other day, I freaked out.  It was a mild freak-out, but I was pretty upset.  It happened right after Firefox automatically updated my browser to 10.x, and I had just been reading about concerns over third parties hijacking automatic updates, so I assumed someone had done just that.  This is what I was referring to in my earlier post on Firefox 10.x and hijacking auto-updates.

It turns out that iObit has something to do with a program called Advanced System Care, which was referred by a friend.  The software is okay, but I originally installed it because CCleaner was simply taking too long to clear files.  I uninstalled Advanced System Care entirely following this, and so far haven't seen the messenger box again.
