I do not know much about video, especially as it applies to videos in file format. I do know that there is a video converter for mac which creates files that can be viweed on any mac device. Now that makes perfect sense to me and is definitely something I would want if I used Macs - because I cut the cord years ago, I use my computer for almost all my entertainment purposes.
4Media Software Studio is more than just a dvd ripper for mac. It allows you to convert files between formats, as well as perform a host of other functions. you can also turn videos into images and make images of videos. A list of features is available on the website.
I do not know much about video or video file formats, and I use PC instead of Macs. However, 4Media sounds like a really great piece of software for video lovers - most of whom (that I know) prefer Mac. It also makes a great ipad video converter, so you can port between your desktop, laptop, and tablet.
