inning!

Aside from using worn-out phrases, I am working on a laptop where the "w" key does not work. You cannot even begin to imagine the issues this has lead to nor the workarounds I've had to develop to do what I need to do. In fact, I can't even spell "workaround" on the stupid thing!

This is a real happy story if everything works out correctly - a real triumph - because this thing was messed-up when I got it, but there's nothing I can do about the missing "w." That's just gone.

A new issue I've become familiar with is the stuck cursor. I've experienced something similar before and am certain it is related to the touchpad, but it's scrolling all the way to the bottom of the page - even the Start panel - and spacing the cursor across the command line. It also goes haywire with select boxes.

I managed to get it under control, to some degree, by uninstalling the touchpad, then I found a slew of adapters that were in conflict in the Device Manager and removed those, but I think this may end up having something to do with the mouse. There is a wireless mouse being used instead of the touchpad.

I am now waiting for the SFC, so I'll keep you updated as to what I find and if I can fix the cursor issue, which is a big deal across the Interwebz yet has no solution (I'm great at finding those, aren't I?), I'll post the steps I took.
