Use Google's Directory Assistance for Free

Directory assistance, or 411, is not free -- as everyone who has ever had cause for using it well knows. Directory assistance is one of the many, many small charges your telephone company levies, but it is somewhat understandable -- especially in the Computer Age -- as everyone needs Directory Assistance once in a while. Google, too, understands this, and offers the service for free.

While your cell phone provider may still charge you for the phonecall, Google's directory assistance will help you find a business, provide you with their phone number, and even connect you directly -- all for free!

1-800-GOOG-411 (1-800-4664-411) is the voice number, but you can also use Google's Directory Assistance via SMS. Simply text "Google," or 466453, and Google will text the information back to you.
