Chrome OS to be Released in 4Q of 2010

Google has announced plans to release their Chrome operating system in the fourth quarter of 2010. Their initial, target demographic is laptop users. The Chrome Web Store will open at the same time, allowing early adopters the opportunity to trick-out their OS right out of the box, but Google warned that customization will be limited for some users, such as user interfaces some Taiwanese laptop makers are planning.

Chrome, it was announced, was designed for clamshell devices with touchpads, keyboards, and 10-12" screens, which includes netbooks. Many experts believe that netbooks, e-reader devices (such as the Kindle), and even tablets have a very limited window of usefulness, due to their limitations. This may prove troublesome for Chrome.
