Russian Crime Bed Laid to Rest

Although criminals will simply find another host(s), a firm believed to be the primary host for many Russian crimeware specialists has been closed. Though it advertised there was no way it could be shutdown, PROXIEZ-NET has, in fact, been shut down.

Experts say they have known that PROXIEZ-NET was involved in various criminal activities - particularly where the Zeus toolkit is concerned - but have not been able to shut them down before now, as the software itself is not illegal, even though it is most often used for malicious purposes. They added that "there are bound to be some legitimate" websites and businesses which will suffer because of PROXIEZ-NET's closing.
