Both Bangladesh and Pakistan have banned Facebook following public outrage over images of Muhammad began appearing online. One group on Facebook encouraged people to upload their representations of the prophet for May 20th's "Everybody Draw Muhammad Day." Pakistan banned access to the site before outrage turned into riots, but some experts say authorities overstepped their boundaries by banning other websites, such as YouTube, without justification. However, the majority of Pakistani citizens back the decision.
Bangladeshi authorities banned Facebook just today, but said the ban would be lifted once "offensive" images of Muhammad and the country's leaders have been removed. One man was arrested and charged with "spreading malice."

Pakistan lifted the ban on Facebook today after a page Muslims considered offensive was removed and a spokesperson from the site apologized.
